Most Americans believe that the number one killer is cancer, but this is not true. Heart disease is the number one killer of all Americans, if fact, heart disease kills more people every year than all of the different types of cancer combined.

Americans are becoming more aware of this deadly disease, but because of all of the advances in medicine, they believe that it is a disease that they can live with. It is true that there have been numerous advances in the treatment of heart disease, but there is no cure.

According to the American Heart Association, there has been a decrease in the number of deaths related to heart disease. From 1993 to 2003, heart disease death rates dropped 22.1 percent.

This is good news, but more than 910,000 Americans still die from heart disease every year and more than 70 million Americans live every day with some form of heart disease including high blood pressure, stroke, and congenital heart defects.
